Which tourist visas for Canadians in Europe?

Which tourist visas for Canadians in Europe?

Hi, which Eastern European countries do Canadian visitors need a tourist visa for? I'm basically interested in knowing which Pan-European countries (including Turkey, Ukraine, etc...) require a fee to enter the country? I will assume all countries not mentioned in this thread are free to enter as a Canadian tourist.

I know already Shengen rules require Canadian visitors to stay a max. 90 days in 180 day period, but what about non-Shengen European countries which are free, or visa-free for Canadians? How long can tourists stay there? 1 month? 3 months?
Thx.

The best route would be to go to the website of the applicable embassy of the country you want to visit and look for Visa requirements. Canada's equivalent to the US State Department may also have a consolidated list of Visa requirements for travellers. In general though, most "near" eastern European contries (Czech Rep., Poland, Romania, Croatia, Etc.) have a similar 90 day allowance and no Visa fees. Many are also poised to join the Schengen agreement. Turkey does require a Visa, but it is essentially a fee paid on entry, Ukraine I am not sure, Russia has a cumbersome Visa process and a fee.

Canada is also part of the same Visa Waiver program the US is in. Their Visa rules are quite similar. I agree with what's been said above, I'm not entirely sure about the former Soviet states and I've heard bad things about getting a Russian visa in particular. Many of the Eastern European countries, however, like Estonia, have joined/are in the process of joining the European Union so it shouldn't be a problem.
