Where to stay in Mostar and Dubrovnik

Any recommendations for either - sobe or small hotels preferably in the old town. We will also be going to Korcula and will need a place there.

In Mostar, consider Villa Fortuna. It's very close to the main sights, but sits in a courtyard off the street which means it's quiet. There's off-street parking, in case you're driving. Price is quite reasonable (extra-cost breakfast was good). In Dubrovnik, I stayed at Jadranka Benussi's rooms and really liked it. It's about a 5 minute walk outside the Pile Gate and up some stairs, but again that means it's quiet. There's no breakfast, but each room has a kitchenette and there's a good bakery nearby. Both places have decent websites.

Thanks for your input. Did you stay in Plitvice also. I guess that I'm looking for recommendation anywhere you went in Croatia and Slovenia.

At Plitvice, I always stay at Hotel Jezero. I find the rooms nice and not terribly expensive, and it's right by one of the park entrances. You can find information about the hotel on the official Plitvice National Park website. Villa Preseren in Lake Bled is nice. It's a small hotel in a park setting right near the lake. I'd need to look back through my travel files for names of other places I've stayed.

Thanks Frank. If you know of a sobe in Dubrovnik that isn't up too many stairs and is quiet let me know.

My recollection is that most of the sobe Rick recommends in the Old Town are up steep stairs, but there are some sobe just outside the Pile Gate that have few stairs. If you have Rick's guidebook, those would be the ones on the Adriatic side of the main street near the Atlas Travel office. Haven't stayed at any of them, so I can't provide a specific recommendation. I do know that one of them is run by Jadranka's sister-in-law and that she refers people there when she's full.

A friend and I recently stayed at Anita and Ivana's in Dubrovnik, and loved it. The apartment is in a great location, but there are a lot of stairs leading leading up to it. Ivana was wonderful - a great help in so many ways, including getting our luggage up the steps! Here's Ivana's email. ivanaraic@gmail.com. Good luck!

Forgot to mention, we were going to staying in Mostar, but our plans changed, so only had a short visit there. We had planned to stay at the Shangri-La, however. It got great reviews on Trip Adviser.
