Need a place to stay in Krakow no more than $100 per night. Single traveler with no special needs. Any suggestions?

Hello, I was in Krakow in September and stayed at Hotel Polonia. I DO NOT recommend it. The next time I go to Krakow I will try to stay in Kazimierz, the former Jewish quarter. I found it to be more interesting and less touristy than staying in or close to Stare Miasto. Although, people do seem to recommend Greg + Tom Hostel.
Also, I like to offer people a word of warning that Krakow only has 2 laundromats and they are extremely difficult to locate. If you think you'll need to do laundry while in Krakow try to find a place to stay that has facilities in it. I really wish I would have known that before I went!

My husband and I stayed at the Trecius Guest House last September. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location is between the train station and the main square. The manager spoke excellent English and was helpful without being intrusive. There was a computer available for our use most of the time. You can find the guest house at www.trecius.krakow.pl/ or read other visitors' reviews on TripAdvisor. Feel free to write if you have any questions.

We stayed at the Bracka 6 & really liked it. It's right off the main square in the old town. Very convenient to everything. Very pleasant and helpful English-speaking staff. The website shows you the prices and what the rooms are like. When we were there a year ago guests got a discount at the nice cafe next door. http://en.bracka6.pl/

I just stayed at the Globtrotter (glob?) as was recommended by some people here. It was a central location with parking around the corner (I had a car)
It was really cheap but no breakfast and looked more like a hostel with 70s decor. But, we had a great time there and saved money. Very basic hotel, definitely no ambience, however there was a nice garden courtyard.

Erin, We're going to stay at the Tango House next month. It's right in Old Town. It's rated #4 on Tripadvisor for B&B's. I don't know when you're traveling, but their smallest single room starts at $59/nt in the off-season. If your budget is $100/nt, you could stay in a nicer room...

Hello Erin, I had the opportunity to spend quite a bit of time in the Krakow area about 6 years ago and so stayed at several different small hotels. I've listed some of my favorites in the under $100 range (at least they are some of the time). They are all outside the Stare Miasto (Old Town), the first two within 5-10 minutes walking distance from the main square, the other is in the Kazimierz neighborhood which is about 15-20 minutes walking or 5 minutes by tram from the main square. (BTW, I've checked with Tripadvisor to see if they are anything like I remember.) Hotel Wielopole is the closest to the main square of any I've listed. Depending on when you plan to go, it may or may not be in your price range. It's simple, but stylishly so. http://www.wielopole.pl/home.php http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g274772-d528554-Reviews-Wielopole-Krakow_Southern_Poland.html Still popular and very well reviewed. Yay! Hotel Fortuna is a business hotel, but isn't stuffy and soulless like many business hotels in the States. And as a business hotel, it's cheaper on weekends and during the summer. http://www.hotel-fortuna.com.pl/fortuna-about-us.php
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g274772-d276717-Reviews-Fortuna_Hotel-Krakow_Southern_Poland.html Gets a pretty good rating, but most reviews are in German and Italian. Hotel Abel, in the Kazimierz, is pretty basic, but nice, clean, friendly, and had newly renovated bathrooms that were about three times the size of the bathrooms in pricier hotels. http://hotelabel.pl/ANG/index.html http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g274772-d560886-Reviews-Hotel_Abel-Krakow_Southern_Poland.html Wow! Reviews range from poor to wildly enthusiastic. Hmm? Also check out: http://www.inyourpocket.com/poland/krakow/hotels/midrange

We recently stayed at the Hotel Wielopole in Krakow and liked it a lot. I found it on tripadvisor.com It is just a couple of minutes walk to the main square and about 10 minutes to train station. Friendly and helpful staff, perfectly clean rooms, a very nice breakfast buffet ( and they'll make eggs to order). I think it would hit your pricepoint, but I never priced singles. ATM is 10 feet away, money exchange office next door. Great location, nice people.

I stayed at the Orbus Francuski, a couple of blocks north of the main square and textile hall and about a 15 minute walk to the train station and Galleria shopping centre (starbucks). This is a grand old hotel and the prices were extremely reasonable. Check out my review on Trip Advisor.
