Where to stay in Istanbul?

We are planning on going to Istanbul this summer. Can anyone recommend a nice, but not too expensive hotel in Istanbul?

Hi Flora,
We will be going to Istanbul soon so I can't speak from personal experience yet but many people seem to like Hotel Empress Zoe and Apricot Hotel

Be sure to see the underground Cistern in the heart of Istanbul!! it was by far one of the favorite things in Istanbul, its near the police station. and is spectacular. also visit the nakash rug store, they also have another cistern in there building, and it is very well done.

Hi,

I just returned from Istanbul, we stayed at Tuliphouse. It was very close to Divan Yolu, a 5 min walk to the Hippodrome, Blue Mosque and other sights. Good breakfast, GREAT, FRIENDLY service.

They also have another location, Tulipguesthouse, which we had originally tried to book but they were full. They had great reviews and were low priced.

We were also considering Gul Sultan (good reviews, good price, good location), which we walked by while we were there. Looked very nice. 2 min walk from Hagia Sophia.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions about Istanbul, I'd love to help.

We stayed in the Empress Zoe for a few nights before starting a road trip in Turkey, and when we returned to Istanbul we needed a hotel room for one night. The Empress Zoe was fully booked so we looked in the same neighbourhood (Sultanhamet) and found the Almina. It suited us well and was a lot cheaper than the Zoe.

I recommend the Apricot Hotel. If you stay more than 3 nights you get a free pickup from the airport. Excellent location, too.

Have a great trip in this fascinating city!

try Side in Sultanahmed. I stay there when in Istanbul. They have a hotel and a pension. They will pick up from the airport or you can catch the train in and walk the short distance to the hotel/pension. From there all main attractions are within a very short walking distance.
Enjoy your stay!

If you are looking for budget accommodation in Istanbul, Turkey, the Hotel Emek will certainly be a great option. Located in the city centre, this hotel is close to transport amenities and it is easy to reach from the airport.

Hotel Emek holds a privileged location in the centre of Istanbul, giving its guests the chance to visit the city's wonderful sites at their own pace. Close to the accommodation you will find the impressive Topkapi palace and the amazing Grand Bazaar. Another must-see attraction among the city's historic monuments is the Blue Mosque.

We visited Istanbul for two days by cruise ship so didn't get to stay there but as a travel agent, I would highly recommend the Best Western, of all things, because it's located right between the Haga Sofia and the Topkapi Palace right on the tram line. When we walked by it I was impressed and later checked out the rates which I thought were pretty good. Also within walking distance are the hippodrome (park) the Blue Mosque and Justinian's Cistern, which is awesome. One stop further is the famous covered market place which even my husband, whom I had to drag there, loved. I don't like shopping myself but this place is great.
