Looking for suggestions on where to stay in Athens, my wife and i will be there for 3 days at the end of May , we're looking for something fairly central and in the 55 to 75 euro price range, any recommendations ?
John
At the bottom end of your range the Amaryllis is fine. Not the best location but only 15 minutes walk, or one metro stop, from the main tourist areas. Details here

A bit above your price range, but in a better position and with a great rooftop bar is the Attalos

Hi,John. We've booked this hotel for September. This is what Rick says about it:
Hotel Phedra, overlooking a peaceful square of ancient ruins and a Byzantine Church, has institutional hallways but 21 nicely appointed rooms well-located in the Plaka (Sb-€60, D-€60, Db-€70, Tb-€90, less off-season, breakfast-€7 extra, air-con, elevator, 2 blocks from Hadrian's Arch at Lissikratous 6, tel. 210-323-8461, fax 210-322-7795).
Our room has a private "external"bath right outside the room, for a rate of 60EUR per night. You can read about it more on TripAdvisor.

Note that there seem to be two accepted spellings for this hotel.
In your price range, I would suggest Hotel Tempi. It was central and very clean. Not to mention the view of the Acropolis when leaning way far out on the balcony:-) Their website is:

However, if you have any physical limitations when it comes to climbing stairs, I would go elsewhere; there's no elevator.
