I'm currently in Vienna, Austria (9/17) and will be leaving by train in two days for Praque. I'm a single woman, traveling alone. Does anyone have any suggestions for a place to sleep for two or three days in Praque. I tried to find Rick Steve's book but could not. I'm on a budget but looking for a private room in the Old Town or wherever you suggest. Thank you!!

I stayed at Hotel Salvator a few years ago. It's listed in the 2004 Rick Steves' guide (though I just stumbled onto by chance) and is very reasonably priced and quite comfortable if fairly basic. It's listed as a 3 star hotel, but it is (or was) a little shabby with bad quality Salvador Dali prints everywhere. But it had a certain charm about it anyway:-) It's on a quiet street just a few blocks from the Old Town. You can check it out at salvator.cz.

the Castle Steps in Mala Strana is worth a look as well; check castlesteps.com. Free breakfasts, great advice, very homey. Enjoy your trip!
