I will be in Katowice, Poland. I will have 1-2 days to see sights. I can stay in that area or travel elsewhere. Looking for recommendations on what not to miss, things to see/do. Thank you!

Pat, Good to have 1-2 days in that area. Katowice was a former province capital of Upper Silesia, Kattowitz in Oberschlesien. I've only been at the train station on the way back to Berlin...didn't have the time. But if you want to travel a bit south, ca. 45 mins. to Pszczyna (Pleß), the chateau in that town is famous...you'll see why. That's what I would do, if I were in Katowice. Also, you can go Krakow for a day.

I guess it depends on what you are interested in.
Krakow is lovely. Auschwitz is a must if you are interested in history and WWII.
