What should I not miss in Hungary?

I will be in Hungary for about a month in June this year. I will spend a week or so in Budapest, then meander around the country, flying back from Budapest.

What should I not miss?

I am an independent experienced traveler, and I like photography, museums and exploring villages. I don't want to hike in the mountains or rent a bike.... my right knee gives me trouble sometimes.

Thanks for any suggestions!

We very much enjoyed a day trip from Budapest to Szetendre, easily accessible by local train. There are nice art galleries there, and by all means do not miss the charming Margi Kovacs museum! My husband, who does not care very much about art, still talks about that museum three years after our visit.

The correct names above (to google them): Szentendre (a must!) and Kovacs Margit Museum.
Here is a list on the must-see-sights in Budapest

On this homepage you'll find useful information about Budapest and Hungary (like transportation and so on).

On the countryside: Balaton is Central Europe's biggest lake, beautiful, mainly the north side of it, with good food and wine. Still the north side there is an amazing thermal spa, a thermal lake, Heviz. Google it and then check it out!
