What do you do for fun in Ceske Krumlov- where do you stay?

We were thinking of going from Munich to Ceske Krumlov . Is there anything to see or do there besides the castle? Where do You stay? What is close by we might like besides Prague? We like adventure on the cheap.

Cesky Krumlov is a very picturesque town. Perfect for just walking around. If you are there in summer you can rent a canoe and do some canoeing on the river Vltava. You can visit nearby Ceske Budejovice (Budweis in German) and do a tour of the brewery of original Budweiser. It is also a nice town for walks. Beautiful square. Close to C.B. there is a chateau Hluboka. Worth visiting. Another nearby town to see is Trebon on the shores of the Lake Svet which means World. You can rent a bike and do the ride around the World. I recommend that you get Rick Steves book: Prague & the Czech Republic. There are chapters about Cesky Krumlov and Trebon and many other towns there.

Suzanne. Begin by buying the Rough Guides to the countries you want to visit. Use them. Then doo a Google search: Ceske Krumlov tourism. That should get you started. You can do a lot of research on your own.

If you are there in the summer the Revolving Theater in the Castle gardens is great. Opera, ballets and plays are int eh repertoire, the performances are at night, and it's the ultimate "theater in the round" -he entire area encircling the seating area is used as the stage, while the seating platform rotates the full 360 degrees as needed. The performances are at night, and the walk back from there through the Castle grounds after is gorgeous. Tickets are reasonable and they now ahve online access.
We stayed at the Pension Olzakovsky -see the Prague and the CR Guidebook - for 990 ck/night for the two of us, with breakfast included, eating in the garden by the Vltava. Building is from the 15th century. Charming.

The Castle View Apartments are a great place to stay in Cesky Krumlov. It's where RS stayed, and if you get to see his Czech Republic travel show, you'll see them. We stayed there a few years ago - we even got the same room RS had. They were great. http://www.castleview.cz/en/

I also vote for Castle View. We had the first floor apartment and it was great. Perfect location. It is a great town to walk in and simply enjoy the shopping and ambience.
