My husband and I spent 10 days in Switzerland last July hiking (Lauterbrunnen was our base) and seeing some parts of it. We had an amazing time. I was wondering what other country anyone could recommend for hiking? We would like to spend about a week hiking and would be in Europe for August 21st to August 28th. We are thinking maybe Slovenia? Any suggestions / recommendations are welcome.
Go to Crete, hike the gorges and enjoy the beaches.
Two places I have recently BRIEFLY read about but definitely need more research --- but they sound interesting and may be worth a look for you.
- Corsica
- The Camino de Santiago de Compostela through France/Spain.
Plitvice, Croatia
Yes Slovenia Alps. Other options: High Tatras in Slovakia (one third of the mountains is in Poland), Pirin and Rila mountains in Bulgaria, Transylvanian Alps in Romania. Slovenia, Slovakia and Poland have more tourist infrastructure, Bulgaria and Romania are for more adventurous.
