Warsaw to Krakow

Have limited time in Poland, with most of our time committed to Augustow area northeast of Warsaw. Trying to figure out if there is a way to make a quick overnight to Krakow, then back to Warsaw for flight out of Poland. Train? Bus? Plane? Anyone made this trek or something close to it?

A quick check of schedules on the Bahn website http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en shows that trains take between 3:09 and 3:22 from Warszawa Centralna to Krakow Glowny (the names of the main train stations). It's not clear from you post if you plan to make this trip the day before your flight. If you are, you should know that many (including me) would not feel comfortable making the trip back from Krakow to Warsaw the same day as an international flight (of course, others would). If you haven't bought your plane tickets yet, you can fly into Warsaw and out of Krakow, which makes things simpler, and may not even cost more. To find these flights without spending a fortune, use http://www.kayak.com/ and at the top, choose "multi city" instead of "one way" or "round trip".

I have done both a flight into Krakow and the train. The airport is small and taxis into the center are cheap. It's possible, although a long day to do the train as a day trip from Warsaw. I loved spending the night in Krakow and then taking the train to Warsaw. The recent improvements in that route make the train comparable to a flight as far as time goes. I would not pass up a chance to see the "Golden City". It is a popular tourist attraction but also revered by the Polish people. Rick has some great tips on how to see the sights but just being there is amazing. Well worth the trip!

Hi, I've done the Warsaw-Krakow ride but not under the pressure of time as it is in your case. It is not a fast route. Augustow has to be an interesting place near the Sulwaki area in northeast Poland.
