Warsaw-- looking for accomodation recommendation

Hi All!

I'm going to a wedding in Poland this summer and will be flying in and out of Warsaw. We'll be staying a couple of hours outside of city for most of the trip, and we won't have much time to actually explore the city of Warsaw on this trip, but we'll need a place to say in the city the night our flight gets in, and the night before our early morning departure out of Poland. I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a not-too expensive place to stay that is somewhat convenient for getting to/from the airport (but also a little more interesting than a typical airport hotel). I've never been to Warsaw, so I'm not sure if this is feasible or not, but I thought I'd check!

Any advice is welcome- thanks!!

Gina:

Seattle here as well.

I was in Warsaw this 4th of July weekend, and stayed at the Westin as a splurge for my backpacking trip thru Eastern Europe. Check for deals on expedia, travelzoo and others, as I got this beautiful room for 2 nights for about $110 US dollars. So $56/nt.

Check around, it is near everything in Warsaw and less than a mile from main train station.

Cheers,
Brannon

We stayed at the Sofitel Victoria and it was really really nice. Very conveniently located overlooking Saxon Garden (or Saxon Square?) which is where the tomb of the unknown soldier is. We were there just one afternoon and the location was great - we walked through old town and puttered around and felt we saw and got a feel for Warsaw. Taxi to airport was about 15 minutes (we had a 6:00 or 7:00 am departure).
