Visting Krakow with rental car need advise on places to stay

All the recommendations seem to be right in the middle of the city. Im concerned about parking and finding my way around. Please share your experience with us on where we might stay other than in the heart of the city. We will need to use public transportation in that case to see the sites in Krakow. I'm thinking 2 days seeing the sites will be adequate. Your experience with dos and don't bother
will be very helpful.

We stayed at the Piano Guest House, no car, but noticed what appears to be quite safe parking directly in front. They are no more than a 5 minute walk south to the main train and bus station and the Mall, and thus another 5 minutes walk south to the Barbican, the north entrance to the old town.

I stayed at the Globtrotter and it was right in the center and parking was not a problem. They have a lot a few blocks away. The hotel was nothing special (a bit dowdy) but the location was great and the price was low.

We have stayed at 2 sister hotels: the Pugetow has a small but adequate parking lot which is shared by the converted mansion/offices and the restaurant. It is close to the old city ( couple blocks?). No elevator but nice and convenient, varied breakfast. We have also enjoyed the Ko?ciuszko Hotel, further out, historic, which has parking onsite. Beautiful setting and lovely, almost overdecorated, luxury rooms; little hard to find at the end of the road, not a RS hotel tho he recommends one of their chain. Beautiful garden setting often used for weddings and parties. http://www.donimirski.com/en/
