Visiting Prague for first time

I am looking for a small town outside Prague that would be have a train station or bus station that would take me directly into Prague's Old Town without too much difficulty. I am also looking for recommendations for hotels outside of Prague near a train station. We will be coming from the Plauen area in Germany. Thank you!

Hi, Why don't you want to stay in Prague, either in the area of Old Town or near the train station? Coming from Plauen the closest town before stopping in Prague is the town of Decin. You can take that route, transfering in Dresden, then to Decin. The other route possible from Plauen is: Plauen-Pilsen, with a change in Cheb (Eger), then Pilsen to Prague.

Hi, The most direct route, the easiest, is Plauen-Dresden-Prague, ca. 2hrs plus from Dresden to Prague by EC train. I would guess that the more circuitous route, mostly in CZ, Plauen to Cheb (Eger) to Pilsen, then the second leg Pilsen to Prague would be cheaper. Pilsen is a nice town to drop off in, spent a day trip in 2001, the American Memorial/Monument is there.
