Vienna, Prague, Budapest

Are the cities of Trebon, Telc and Trebic worth mapping into an itinerary between Vienna and Cesky Krumlov before going to Prague and Budapest? I was considering: 1) Vienna - 3 nights 2) train to Brno to Trebic (sightsee for a couple of hours) continue by bus onto Telc - 1 night 3) Telc to Trebon by bus(sightsee for a couple of hours) continue onto Chesky Krumlov via Ceske Budejovice (bus and train)- 2 nights 4) Prague - 3 nights 5) Budapest - 3 nights
Thanks for your help.

I think your itinerary is right. I wouldn't be changing it. Trebic is the biggest out of 3 T's but I assume what you want to see is Jewish quarter. Trebon and Telc are small picturesque towns and Cesky Krumlov is the most picturesque and also the most touristy. It seems to me that 3 big cities and 4 small towns are right mix.

Why not go in a line from Budapest to Prague (or vice versa). It sounds like you are backtracking, because Vienna is between them.

I am actually flying into Munich going to Salzburg, Hallstatt, Melk and then Vienna. If the three T's are worth going to, then I thought that this might be a workable itinerary. If not, then I would go from Hallstatt to Linz to Cesky Krumlov to Prague to Vienna, do Melk as a day trip and then to Budapest. I will be flying from Budapest to Venice and boarding a cruise ship. I guess my big question is still - should I do the three T's?

Kathy, since you are interested enough to go to Melk, let me suggest you work the Archabbey at Pannonhalma http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pannonhalma_Archabbey and http://bences.hu/en. I've been to both and I got more out of the trip to the Pannonhalma Archabbey. It's located about 20 minutes outside of the town of Gyor which is almost exactly halfway between Vienna and Budapest and the main rail line. You can take a bus or a cab from Gyor to the Archabbey. Spend a night in Gyor if you can. It has a great baroque center, river frontage and an amazing synagogue http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gy%C5%91r. The hotel you want to book is a renovated 18th century cloister called the Hotel Klastrom http://klastrom.hu/index.html. Between Gyor and Budapest there are a number of interesting sites. If you are interested, let me know.
