Where is a good place to see the Alps and stay for a night on our way from Prague to Vienna?

The Alps don't lie directly between Vienna and Prague, so if you want to see them, you'll have to do some back-tracking. The closest Alpine peaks to your route of travel are in the southern portion of Salzburg state (not Salzburg city, where the mountains are fairly low). Some of the resort towns in this area include Flachau, Wagrain, Zell Am See and Bad Gastein.
