vacation apartments in Budapest

Would anyone have recommendations on moderately priced apartments for a five day stay next summer in Budapest?

We had a negative experience with all-budpest-apartments.hu, I would beware of this company. The apartment was dirty and not ready when we arrived as agreed, kitchen left with food in the oven and fridge, floors not swept. I would not use the company again.

We stayed in an apartment run by "your Hungarian Aunt and Uncle, Maria and Esvan". THey are very helpful and the apartment was just what we needed - space for 5 (family) for 80 EUR/night.

We stayed for 5 nights in a 2 bedroom apt at 7Seasons Apartments (found it on bookingdotcom). Great location near Deak Ter. On site staff were very helpful.

Our latest visit to Budapest took place recently, during the the time of the big floods. We enjoyed the city very much, with the Danube showing a new face of hers being so elevated it was really unique. Spectators were strolling along the embankments day and night, the city just felt so alive! It was a very interesting experience as a tourist (although I am sure it caused havoc for many locals...). We stayed at the newest apartment of the Budapesting family Basilica Corner Apartment , which is their most centrally located apartment I would say. This was our 4th stay with them and we were always quite happy with the hospitality and the services we got. Therefore I was surprised to read some negative opinions about Budapesting... Susie and her children are the best possible hosts I can imagine. Of course not for people who are used to 5 star hotels, no for them this'll probably not be an option, but for the real everyday traveler it's the place to stay.
p.s. we also stayed at their Lake Balaton summer house and that's also recommended.

Here's a link to an apartment owned by one of our frequent posters, James of Frisco (formerly of Texas): http://budapestflat.shutterfly.com/. I don't know the place but it certainly looks fine, and James is a fountain of good information and goodwill on this board. Our rules don't allow promoting our own businesses, which must be why James hasn't posted in response to your question. But I thought you should know about his place as an option to consider. The website also has a lot of good info about Budapest. Five days will give you time to see a lot, I wish we'd had that much time last year.

Check out www.entreamis.be. We spent 3 wonderful nights in an apartment right across the street from the Opera House in May. Fabulous location. Well appointed and furnished. Very clean and the contact person Beti was a wonderful resource and addressed all of our needs and questions. You will not be disappointed. Highly recommend these apartments!!!!!!!!!!!!! Craig
