We are soon on our way to Czech Republic! After spending several nights in Prague, we will rent a car and drive to Kutna Hora for two nights, then to Telc for a night, then to Cesky Krumlov for several nights. We purchased a Garmin GPS "chip" for our Nuvi. Have you used GPS in Czech Republic? Have you driven in the Czech Republic? Suggestions? Experiences? Thanks much.
Unfortunately I don't have an experience with GPS. I have driven extensively in the Czech Republic. You will need good road atlas; buy there. Get international drivers license. Know international traffic signs. If no speed limit posted then it is 50 km/h in towns and villages, 90 km/h outside towns and villages and 130 km/h on freeways. For freeways you will need special sticker. Rental company usually provides. Zero alcohol tolerance behind the wheel. Penalties are severe. Watch for aggressive drivers. Renting automatic is quite more expensive than manual shift.
We used a Tom Tom GPS with the Euro map set for walking around Prague and it worked fine. On the train to Prague we used it to see where we were, and it picked up the streets and cities fine as well.
