US-Paris-Athens Passport/Customs

We will be flying from the US via Paris (Air France both legs) to Athens. Noticed that Athens Terminal B has no passport control for flights within Europe. Would that mean that we would go through Passport control in Paris? If so is that time consuming and are we better off taking carryon on versus checked bags? We have 1 hour and 45 minutes between flights in Paris.

Yes, you will have processed through Passport Control and Customs in Paris. Carryon is the best way to go if you can travel light enough. My experience at CDG has always been stressful and time-consuming. There are usually lots of planes arriving at the same time with lots of people needing to be processed, and you will no doubt see only 3 or 4 of the dozen or so processing desks being manned at any given time. The rest will be empty. Once you're processed you then will have to find your way by shuttle to your departure terminal, which means more time wasted. 1 3/4 hours will fly by. I don't book through CDG any more if I can help it just because of these hassles.
