I am planning for 2010 two weeks in Greece. This will be my first trip. One week I would like to stay in one place with day trips or just relaxing. I will be renting a place that can accommodate 10 people to celebrate my 60th bday. Another week I would like to see some of Greece (realizing I can not see everything). What itinerary suggestions would you make?

I suggest you go find yourself a good guidebook, either at a bookstore or at the library. Read up on the different aspects of travel in Greece, eliminate what doesn't interest you and focus any questions that arise on that which does. Consider if you want to split your time between the mainland and the islands. Pick one or two islands close together for ease of transit. But first, find a Lonely Planet, Fodor's or Let's Go Greece guide. Read it, then help us help you.

regarding Greece guidebooks: Rick's newest book, Athens & Peloponnese, will hit the bookshelves next month! (finally, after 25 years, a book on Greece, or parts of it, anyway)
