Turquoise Coast

Hi We are staying in Selcuk a Wed & Thu night and then driving down to Antalya and driving from Antalya Tue morning, so we have 4 days and 5 nights to spread between south of Selcuk including Antalya. We were wondering which towns to get a hotel in on the Turquoise coast. Any help would be appreciated. This would be between 10/1 -10/5/10.

We are spending 2 nights in Fethiye (haven't decided on hotel yet) and 2 nights in Kas staying at the Hideaway Hotel which has great reviews! Another good option could be Kalkan.

Cirali is a bit remote but we really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Canada. They have bikes you can use to ride all over the area. If you go, also check out Chimaera - it's a hike to an area where flames spontaneously burst from cracks in the rocks. An amazing sight at night!

Mardee, I looked at your trip report and you have a very organized way of planning your trip. Is Fethie (sp) somewhat of a tourist trap. I have been on trip advisor and some of these towns sre the equivalent to the English to what Cancun is to Americans. My daughter stayed at Cimera and was very impressed with the fire. I am kind of all over the place, but I was trying to look at hotels in Istanbul and some of them were outrageously expensive. Dis any of you stay at one that was acceptable and did not cost an arm and a leg?

James, I didn't find Fethiye to be overly touristy, but certainly there is some element of that there, given its location. It did not lessen my enjoyment of the town - I had a wonderful time here. As far as Istanbul hotels, I stayed at the Hotel Hanedan in Sultanahmet and found it perfectly acceptable and very reasonably priced. I think I paid around $40 a night for a single room in May of 2007, and the room was one of the larger single rooms I've stayed in.
