I am wrapping up a trip in Turkey and Istanbul. Is a Turkish bath worth the experience and price? About how many lira should I expect to pay and can anyone recommend a bath house or hamami near Sultanahmet? Thanks! Betsy

Hi Betsy, I went for a Turkish bath last time I was in Istanbul and I'm really glad I did.
The RS guide book has recommendations in that area. Iy also tells you what price to expect. If I recall, it was somewhere in the region of 100 lira. One thing, do remember to generously tip the woman who gives you the bath; they work hard and get paid very little.

did it. loved it. woudld do it again. my skin has never felt so soft. i have never felt so squeaky clean! and i found the whole experience very relaxing. we went to cemberlitas (sp?). we had been staying in sultanhmet too and it wasn't that far of a walk.
