Turkey in 8 Days

We are a family of 5 adults and 1 infant traveling in July. The plan is to arrive Istanbul midnight Thurs leaving Istanbul Sun. and heading to Bergama then Ephesus and then to KAS for the last few days. A mad dash back on Friday to Istanbul for our early a.m. flight on Sat.
I can see the value of flying from Dalaman? Airport to IST on the Friday return but is it worth driving from Istanbul to Ephesus stopping the night in Bergama? Or would our time be better spent flying into Izmir and taking a shuttle to Ephesus (skip Bergama) and then fly Izmir to Dalaman driving to Kas.
Is our time better spent driving and seeing the sights along the road or flying and being where we want to be? Will we loose a lot of time in airports or will we spend a lot of time and money on the drive?
So very excited about this trip even though it is short.
Thanks for any help. Barbara

It's a long day to go from Istanbul to Izmir via Bergama. You can fly there in a 45 minute flight. I'd skip Bergama--it's not that interesting to justify its presence in such a short itinerary. The drive along the Mediterranean coast is unforgettably scenic, with mountains and breathtaking seaviews.

I assume you are planning to get from Kas back to Istanbul. You might make Antalya your last stop on the coast and fly from there. It has an old walled section of the city worth a look, too.

Folks, "Tom" keeps posting to this site here advertising websites selling tours. It's against the rules here to post ads, but "Tom" doesn't seem to care. Buyer very much beware...
