Trekking in Transylvania

i have been to this area but didn't do trekking. if you're in an organized tour you should be ok. it's a relatively rural area when you go out of the towns. the towns are nice with atm, shops, etc, but once you go out some places are pretty poor, esp. when you come across a gypsy town or village. i took a lot of public transportation there and can say the trains are in bad shape. safe, but can shock a lot of first time visitors.

Thanks. I will be on an organized tour and my biggest concern by far is bringing the right trekking gear (day-pack, back pack, etc.) that will allow me to both trek in the mountains and be able to easily board public transit and store it for the ride.

you should be ok with the gear - trains and buses are not too crowded and if the tour can provide transportation even better.
