Traveling and transfers in Greece

Hi All - I'm heading out to Greece at the end of August staying for 14 days. I plan on visiting a few islands - Hydra, Mykonos and Santorini. Would you recommend Hydra, Santorini and then Mykonos? If so, what are the best travel options to get down to Santorini? Also, any recommendations on where to stay? I'm traveling with another female, so safe and friendly options for female travelers are encouraged. Thank you!

Because you've chosen islands in 3 different locations you'll have to do a bit of clever planning to avoid a lot of backtracking. Hydra is closest to Athens, and then you'd have to return to Athens to get to either Mykonos or Santorni next. From either Santorini or Mykonos you can get to the other. They're only a couple of hours apart. To save time, I suggest you go to Mykonos or Santorini when you first arrive, and if possible perhaps fly or ferry out the same day as you arrive. Next, go to the next island before you return to Athens and go to Hydra, saving Athens for the end so you don't have to stress about returning to the mainland at the last minute for your flight home. Depending on when you arrive and the ferry departure schedules, you may be able to save some money by taking the airport bus to Rafina for a fast ferry to Mykonos instead of the much slower car ferry from Piraeus. If you do opt for a ferry from Piraeus there's an airport express bus (X96) for €5 that will take you there in just over an hour, every 30 minutes or so 24/7/365. If you want some good hotel recommendations for Santorini I'll need to know your maximum combined daily room budget. I can't help you for Mykonos or Hydra. Ferry Schedules HERE
