Planning a trip to Turkey Sept. 2011. Is it better to go early or late Sept into Oct? Or should one go inMay? Inexperienced traveler.

I think late September or October would be nice. I was there in April and the weather was nice but we needed a jacket or sweater before noon. You can pick up a lot of good ideas or suggestions by reading other reviews and comments on this site as well as Frommers
and Fodors.

Go to RS Tours section of this web site - click on Turkey - click on any of the tours - click on details/daily stuff - look on lower right had corner of the page for Weather in Europe - click there to see the local weather for the months of the year. Hope that all still works.

early Oct can be chilly in Istanbul, but still comfortable elsewhere. just bring a sweater with you or buy a cheap one there.

Also just back from Istanbul last night, after being there for 8 days on the Rick Steves tour (which was awesome).
The weather was great, not too hot or too cold and only one day with showers of rain.
