Travel to Poland by Rental Car

Which car rental companies permit travel to Poland when the car is rented from countries such as Belgium?

I don't know the answer to your question specifically, but we have found that rental companies generally either forbid border crossings into many central European companies or charge huge fees. The drive between Belgium and Poland is a long and tiring one--why not drop your car off in Belgium, take the train or fly a cheapie airline to Poland, and pick up a new rental car there? Saves you money and wear and tear on yourself.

It is a long trip and we considered flying to Krakow and renting a car there. However we wanted to see parts of Germany and the Selesian region of Poland on our way to Krakow. Carl from Texas suggested we rent from SIXT since they permit certain car models to be driven into Poland. We took his suggestion and were able to rent a car at a very reasonable rate. Also by picking the car up at a Belgian train station rather than the Airport we were able to save an additional $100. Hopefully everything will work out as planned, our trip is not for 10 more days.

Glad you found a good rental car deal for your trip. If it works out schedule-wise, I recommend a stop in Wroclaw in Poland. The city has many of the charms of Krakow, only with fewer loud nightclubs and stag parties. Pick up a couple of In Your Pocket for Wroclaw and for Krakow--pretty good restaurant advice (and hilarious warnings on the bad ones!)--the IYPs can be downloaded for free online, but most hotels have a free stack of them you can pick up in the lobby, too.

Sounds like you have an awesome time planned. Report back and let us know how it went.
