We would like to travel to Odessa Ukraine from either Vienna or Paris but flights seem to be very expensive. Any suggestions on low-cost ways to get to Odessa?

The low cost airline WizzAir has flights from various European cities to Ukraine (mostly to Kiev), but not directly from Paris or Vienna. Anyway, check their site ( http://wizzair.com/ ), maybe you'll find a convenient connection.
From Kiev you can get to Odessa by train, bus or domestic flight (they're not very expensive).
Or you could fly from Paris to Timisoara (a city in Romania) with the same WizzAir and then fly directly from Timisoara to Odessa with Carpatair ( http://www.carpatair.com/ ) - though the final part won't be so cheap, a Timisoara-Odessa ticket is at least $130.
