Next May we will be picking up our grandson who lives in Zurich. We are thinking of flying to Krakow(spending three days), taking a train to Vienna(spending three days), taking a train to Ljubljiane(spending three days with a bus us to Bled for one day), then train to Zurich(flight to Austin from there). Does that itinerary make sense? Any recommendations to improve the experience? Thanks John

If you are going to Ljubljana, you may wish to consider a day trip to Plitvice Lakes Park. It is about 100 K - 60 to Zagreb, 50 S. It is a wonder. We went last summer, and it was one of the most special days on our trip. You will not regret it.

I think the you need to look at the map or do mapquest. Plitvice is not that close. We drove from Zagreb to Plitvice and it is about 2 hours, over 130km. We returned from Europe Dec 6 and did a similar route. We went from Kracow to Vienna by train. We spent 2 days there and that was enough for us. The train we took left early about 6:30 and we were in Vienna by 13:30. We spent 2 days in Bled and 1 night in Ljubljana but we could have reversed that. We did like the peacefulness of Bled. May should be a lovely time for your trip
