We are planning a trip to Serbia. We cannot decide to use a rental car or public transportation. Can anyone give us any helpful information on transportation and/or accommodations. D.W.

David, I hope someone else comes along with suggestions for you. I would just suggest you also post your question on another site such as Lonely Planet's Thorn Tree. As far as I know Rick Steves has never written about Serbia, and I imagine very few of his "crowd" have been there (and in general it seems far fewer people have traveled in Serbia than in Slovenia, Croatia, or even now Montenegro and Bosnia). I can only comments on our travel which was using public transport. However, we only spent about 3 days in Serbia. We took the bus in from Sarajevo. Used trams in Belgrade. And when leaving took a train N to Subotica where we spent a little time and then took a bus to Szeged in Hungary. I had done my research so didn't have any issues with public transport. Keep in mind that you may run into issues with language so go prepared. I am partial to Lonely Planet so always travel with that guide book. You have not told us where you intend to travel and what options you have already investigated so not sure what other advice to give.
