We are planning to drive from Rovinj, Croatia to Dubrovnik. We want to make one stop in between. Any suggestions?? We were thinking Split or Sibenik. Are there any other favorite, coastal towns in between?
Trogir is stunning (it's very close to Split)
If you don't go to Plitvice Lakes, you are really missing a wonder. It would be out of the way from Rovinj to Split, but it's so great that I would make the effort.
Have to agree with both of the above. Plitvice is worth the detour (and it's not really a small detour - might look like it on a map but the roads don't connect directly). The problem is that there are a LOT of very worthwhile places to stop and see in between Rovinj and Dubrovnik. You will be blowing past a lot of great stuff - consider spending more time in this area. We liked Trogir a lot, too (it's quite close to Split but we found Split was overwhelmed with the crush of tourists - even in "shoulder season"; Trogir wasn't exactly empty either, but we found the crowds in Trogir more tolerable). Sibenik was nice, too. We didn't spend the night there, a few hours was enough for a nice short stop. Plenty of great places along this route. So much to see, so little time...
