Travel from Turkey to Athens

We will be ending our Turkey tour in Ephesus mid May. We would like to go from there to the Greek islands and then to Athens (total 6 days). Any suggestions about a good way to do this? We are looking to relax after a busy tour!

From Ephesus it's easy. Take a bus or taxi to Kusadasi for the ferry to the Greek island of Samos. Once you're on Samos you'll have your choice of ferries to take you in different directions through the Aegean islands.

I should have mentioned that we would like to get to Santorini to spend 3 or 4 nights. It doesn't seem like there is a ferry from Samos to Santorini. Will we need to spend the night in Samos and then catch a ferry to another island before going on to Santorini. Also, would we need any reservations mid May? Would anyone have suggestions for the best way to get from Ephesus to Santorini? And last, what is the weather like in May?

There is no direct ferry to Santorini. You'll have to take a ferry from Samos to either Naxos or Paros to connect to the ferry going to Santorini. If you take the morning ferry from Kusadasi to Samos you won't have to spend the night there as there are some ferries leaving after you'd arrive. Here is a link to the ferry schedule but take note of the different "till" dates. Not all of them apply to May. Also, some are not yet official.

Depending on when you arrive on Paros or Naxos it might be necessary for you to stay overnight to catch a connecting ferry to Santorini, which will be either the Blue Star Car ferry at noon from Paros and 1pm from Naxos, or the Hellenic Seaways FlyingCat 4 from Paros at 1:45pm.
