We will be in Saint Petersburg in May and need to go to Prague and I don't see too many travel options. I found limited airfare for $200 per person one way but wasn't sure if there is another options. I don't mind flying into another city close to Prague but am not sure what/where that would be.
Thanks!
Others may chime in, but I don't think you have any other easy options.
Here is what may work if trying an overland route:
Get a train to Lithuania (check the LP thorntree forum -- I believe this route exists but please double check). From there you would need to get to Poland and from there to Prague.
If your lucky, you will be able to do this in 2 days. My suggestion is to fly.

I've done this route by train, but at a more leisurely pace with several stops in between. 3 days by train is probably the absolute minimum. The train rides between St. Petersburg to Vilnius to Warsaw all are greater than 8 hours. Although I did not take a direct route between Warsaw and Prague, judging by the durations of the trips between Warsaw to Krakow and Krakow to Prague, Warsaw to Prague must be at least another 8-10 hours. A flight from St. Petersburg to Prague might be more expensive than the train ticket costs, but consider all the extra food and lodging expenses you would incur.
Thank you both for your response. On this trip I will opt for the plane ride.
