What is the best way to travel from Budapest to Prague? We will be ending a Viking river cruise in Budapest and will travel on our own to Prague before flying back to the US.

This is your BIG chance. Go to the ticket window at the Budapest train depot and ask for a 1st class ticket to Prague. The tickets will be well worth the price, and the experience will be gratifying. We did this.

We did the other direction (Prague to Budapest) on the RS tour. It was a great train ride and very easy trip. We also took the train to Vienna (not with the RS tour) and also enjoyed that very much.

Barbara, you haven't gotten many responses because the first was pretty much the best option. I would suggest if you haven't seen Vienna that you lay over for at least a day or two. It breaks up the otherwise sort of long trip and lets you take advantage of where you are. For Budapest I know a little, let me know if I can help James
