My daughter and I will be in Turkey for 12 days beginning late September. We want to do justice to Istanbul, but also don't want to miss Cappadocia nor Ephesus. We're not so keen on the overnight bus from Istanbul to Cappadocia. Any recommendations for other modes of transport between the cities? Thanks for your advice. Chris
There are several budget airlines that operate between Istanbul and Izmir (near to Ephesus) and between Istanbul and Kayseri (in Cappadocia). Try whichbudget.com and see what works for you. Also, try the Turkish Air site--the competition with the discount carriers sometimes causes them to drop fares, too.
We flew between IST and Capadoccia. The Turkish Airline is great and it is a quick flight. We flew into Nevsehir (prob spelling it wrong) and out of Kayseri, which seemed like a longer and less scenic drive.
Hi Christine,
In case the flights don't work out the overnight bus isn't a bad option. We flew between Istanbul and Izmir (for Ephesus), then took a bus (during the day) to Antalya (visited Cirali on the coast along the way), and then a night bus to Goreme. The buses are very nice, an attendant serves snacks and tea, the bus stops for breaks about every 2 hours, and one bus even had wireless Internet!
We spent $200 for flights for 2 to Kaysari, then from Ismir to Istanbul on Pegasus Air. They had more flight time options.
