Transportation within Budapest

We were in Budapest this summer and became quite comfortable using public transit! Each day, we took a bus, tram and then the metro to get where we were going since we stayed out in the suburbs. We used the 7 day Travel Card (cost 3600 forint=about $21) which was good for all 3 modes of transportation and allowed us to crisscross the city without worrying about validating tickets, etc. Metro agents were checking tourists for tickets so we were always sure we had the right one! There are other passes available--1 day travel, 3 day travel--not to be confused with the Budapest Card.
