Can I enter Cyprus from the North (Turkish controlled) and fly onward from the South?

This may depend on the passport you are carrying. I believe it isn't a problem if you have an EU passport - not sure if you will have problems with a US passport. You could try out the LP or trip advisor forums also.
I did the reverse last year since there was a possibility of having issues departing out of Larnaca or Paphos if entering from the North.
