Transfer between Greece and Turkey

I want to visit Troy as part of a European trip, early spring.
I've researched the site a lot; do not need tour guide. I want a short visit from a Greek island base. Done Istanbul efore.

The Turkish ferry port closest to Troy (and reachable from a Greek island) is Ayvalik, which you can reach by ferry from the Greek island of Lesvos (Lesbos). Ferry info: http://www.feribot.net/feribot/?lang=en Ayvalik is 180 Km from Troy. Looks like you'd get from Ayvalik to Troy by bus or rental car.
