Besides Taxi, what other transportation options do I have from the Athen's Airport to Piraeus Port?. I want to stop for a few hours at the Acropolis if I can. Please advise. Thank you
You can take the Airport Metro to the last stop, the Monastiraki Metro Station, which lets you out on the edge of the Plaka, which is at the base of the Acropolis. When it's time to go to Piraeus get on the Green Line Suburban Railway at the Monastiraki Station and it'll take you right to the port. The good thing about this plan is that there is someplace at this Metro station to stash your bags. The Airport Metro costs 6 euro each or 2 for 10 euro and takes 45 minutes.
You can also take the Airport Express Bus #95 to Syntagma Square in Central Athens and walk to the Parthenon. You'll have to find someplace to stash your bags, which isn't quite so easy, but you can walk about 1/4 mile down Mitropoleos Street from Syntagma to the Monastiraki Metro Station and stash them there. The bus costs 3.2 euro each and leaves the airport every 30 minutes 24/7. Unless you're travelling during rush hour the bus trip into town takes 45-60 minutes.
Hey Lee, I am trying to book a fast ferry from Santorini to Piraeus, but nothin shows up. How much time in advance can I purchase tickets? I have been checking Hellenic Seaways website but they only have tickets before Sept 7. I want to depart on Sept. 28. Any advise. Thank you
