We would like to go from Venice to Zagreb and there don't seem to be any good links. We were told through Raileurope that we had to go to Austria first to the city of Vilac? Yet, coming back from Zagreb we can go through Ljublijana Slovenia to Venice in less than 8 hours. Does anyone know how to do that in reverse? Thanks Carol

I just looked into tickets today for Venice to Zagreb for late June and the office I went to only had the train schedule until June 9th and couldn't tell me the price but I assume the hours will not be much different. There is a train leaving Venice at 9:15pm and gets into Zagreb at 4:28am..ouch! I plan to look into this more and will post a message when I get some answers!

Make sure that you hit the International Guest tab at the top to see things in English. It looks like Zagreb Glavni Kolod. is easiest station to get to. But the shortest trips do go through Ljubljana to Zagreb, both daytime and overnight trains. I think the shortest one is less than 8 hours and in the daytime leaves at 8:26 or so (IC 1205; IC 1253; the numbers change at the border) and arrives at 15:47.
The website has data for trains well into June.
