Trains from Prague to Ljubljana

My wife and I will be joining an RS tour (Best of the Adriatic) in Ljubljana in September. Just prior to the tour, we will be in Prague. We are planning to take the night train from Prague to Ljubljana and are wondering if anyone on this website has ever taken this train? If so, how was it and what suggestions would you have for making reservations and for making the trip as pleasant as possible? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

I posted this question on transportation also. To make the trip pleasant, you must book a sleeper!

No, we decided to leave at 7:14 a.m. and take the train via Salzburg. The night train doesn't arrive until 2 p.m. and we can take the later train and arrive at 6. We once took the night train from Istanbul to Ankara and although it had it's highlights, I didn't feel very rested when I arrived.

The train was not available for booking until 60 days prior to departure. I suggest you phone Rail Europe. Although the trip was not listed on their website, they said if we called, they could book it.

The train through Salzburg is only $40 a person. The night train was going to be $200 in 2nd class.

is the website I used to book my tickets from Prague to Ljubljana. The cost booking 60 days in advance was $41 per ticket. This is for 2nd class.

Rail Europe also sells the trip for $200 a ticket, but this is for 1st class.
