Plan A is to go from Bled to Rovinj and then take a ferry round trip to Venice. Plan B would be to go from Bled to Venice by train but then it might be a challenge to fit in Rovinj since our next stop is Pletvice. Plan C take the train to venice and then the ferry to Rovinj and try to get to Pletvice.
How complicated are the travel option by rail and bus???

Colleen, In planning for our October in the Adriatic, I've been looking at some of these same possibilities. It would help to know when you're there, and for how long. If it's anything short of a week, I would drop Venice out of the plans so you're not commuting for so much of your time there. With more days, you can see more places.
I don't know about ferry possibilities, as that's not on our plans. Both bus and rail look good to us, surely for cost versus car, but not so good for schedule. For rail, I use RailEurope, but prefer the Deutsche Bahn site: http://ReiseAuskunft.Bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
