Train travel from Munich to Prague and Prague to Krakow

Hi all,

My husband and I will honeymooning in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland this September. I've been to Germany and Austria previously and am familiar with the areas we will be visiting. Neither of us has taken any trains before and would like some input on this. We would like to take the night train from Munich to Prague and then a few days later another night train from Prague to Krakow. Has anyone done this and how do you recommend getting the tickets? I can't seem to find a travel agent in our area that is knowledgeable about Europe. Thank you so much in advance.

I've done this... sort of. I traveled in the opposite direction, and during the day. For each leg, all I did was checked what times the train left, then bought my tickets the day of travel. No problems at all. None of the routes were so long that I felt like I was losing a day of site seeing.

I went on the night train from Prague to Krakow in May and reserved a few days before. The train had lots of room on it. Munich and Prague both have really good English train travel services (both listed in the RS book) I would reserve the night train as soon as you get in Munich at the Euraid office.

We took the overnight from Krakow to Prague last summer and I stressed myself sick worrying over the tickets before we left. Thanks to some great advice from folks on this board, though, I was able to compose myself and relax a bit. We bought our tickets the day before we wanted to travel and had absolutely no problem. I'd imagine since you're not going during peak travel season that you should definitely be okay without reserving from the US.
