Tours to Gallipoli and Troy

After our tour with Rick concludes, we will visit my wife's old Peace Corps friend in Tekirdag. (1) Any suggestions for B&B's or Pensions in that city?

My son and I would like to visit Troy and the Gallipoli battlefield while my wife stays in Tekirdag. (1) Are there tours we can pick up in Tekirdag for both places? (2) If so, which company is best (heard some horror stories on Rick's site)? (3) Is it feasible to do both in one day, or do we need two days? What's the time element for these tours? Thanks.

I think you'll need 2 days, but do a search for tours originating in Canakkale. Troy is a short drive out of the city by local mini-bus.

I seem to recall from my trip to Turkey that we did both in one day, but we were with a guided tour. Although both places are certainly of historical interest, there really isn't an awful lot to see at either one. I would check your guidebook to see if there isn't someplace else you'd enjoy more, like maybe Pamukkale.
