We were there in may, and tour boats are all over the docks, probably a choice of 6 different companies. You can book and go right then, no need to do it ahead of time. I think that we paid 20 Euro per person for a half day tour.

Danie, Just wanted to make sure that you know the volcano in Santorini is not really very active. I was very disappointed in the volcano and hot springs tour that I took in Santorini. We climbed up some hard black lava to an area where you could see an occasional puff of smoke. The hot springs were some lukewarm muddy water.

Check availability carefully, the islands are mostly closed down in March and barely waking up in April. The weather is marginal - could be cool, damp and rainy. Without much tourist activity there may not be many regularly scheduled tours.
