Our trip to Croatia this Sept includes our last week of the vacation on a bike and Boat tour to islands including Hvar, Korcula, Miljet and Peljesic leaving from Dubrovnik and returning.
We have a week before the trip to see the area. Any suggestions on what not to miss?
With a week before your bike and boat tour, I'd suggest spending your time in and around Split and Dubrovnik. Allow 3 days for Split, including renting a car and taking a trip to Plitvice National Park, either as an all-day trip or an overnight. You can easy fill 3 or 4 days in Dubrovnik, including a day trip to Montenegro by rental car or tour. If you have an extra day between Split and Dubrovnik, Mostar is well worth visiting. IMO, Mostar is better done as an overnight rather than as a tour. If you want to include multiple day-trips by car, string them together - i.e. Plitvice then Mostar then Montenegro. Some rental car companies don't charge a drop-off fee for pick-up in Split and drop-off in Dubrovnik, but you'll want to be sure you can take the car into Bosnia and Montenegro if that's your plan. Edit: I should mention that Plitvice and Mostar can be reached using bus. It's just that car is more efficient, especially for Plitvice. Bus service between Split and Dubrovnik is very good.
