Tour recommendations in Dubruvnik / Slovenia

I am currently in Torino, Italy and plan to head south in a couple of weeks. This is my third time in Europe (have thus far only been to Italy and Germany) and would like to broaden m horizons. I have a couple of weeks free and am thinking about taking a 7-10 trip to Dubruvnik and Slovenia. I am traveling solo, am feeling a little overwhelmed with planning. I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for in-country tour guides / agencies, as I am trying to minimize expenses?

Hi there Teri! We can definitely recommend some tour guides\tours in Slovenia but they wont be cheap for a single person. You have the option to join some public tours or its simple enough to do your own thing. Ljubljana is small enough to explore in a day and Lake Bled is stunning and an easy day trip from Ljubljana. The Hostel Celica is a great choice if you want to meet some people. Give us a hoy if you want to discuss your itinerary in greater detail. Greg and Rona

Hi Greg and Rona, Thanks so much for your reply. Yes, I would love some help with an itinerary. I have a RS snapshot guidebook on Dubrovnik , know next to nothing about either Dubrovnik or Slovenia. How easy is it to get to Dubrovnik from Slovenia and can I use public transportation to get to the interesting sites? May have some other questions later. Thanks much,
Theresa

Also - I will check out the hostel, but whatever information you have on tours (public or private) would be great. Thanks again!

Hi again Teri! Slovenia to Dubrovnik is quite a long way so you'll have to factor in travelling time as well. If you are planning 10 days then probably only 3 would be in Slovenia. Due to the shortage of time, we suggest you travel from Torino to Ljubljana (via bus\train) then perhaps stay in Ljubljana and do a couple of really exciting day trips like these: http://www.travel-slovenia.com/regular-daily-tours-around-slovenia/1-2-day-slovenia-tours/ That will cover most of the must-see sights like Bled and the Alps, Caves etc. We'll let others comment on Croatia but we assume you will travel Ljubljana to Zagreb and take in Plitvice Lakes before heading down the coast! Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I will be heading south upon leaving Torino, as I am scheduled to meet a friend, so would be going to Dubrovnik first. Appreciate the suggestions of things to see in Slovenia and see how I can pull it together. Thanks again!
