Top 3 beautiful Greece islands for photographers

I am going to visit Greece in mid April. Please advise: what are top three Greece islands for photographers. I only have limited 12 days. So, I look for insider's advice to make my photo trip most effective. Thank you in advance.

ron, It's probably safe to say that most of the Greek Islands will provide lots of scenery for photographers. You may find it helpful to have a look at Matt Barrett's excellent Greece Travel website, as that has good descriptions of all the islands. With only a VERY short 12 days, I'd suggest limiting your trip to three islands. It would also be a good idea (IMO) to limit your visit to islands that are in the same "group" (ie: Cyclades) as that will minimize the travel times between them. There are lots of possibilities! In the Cyclades group, three that you could consider are Mykonos, Naxos and Santorini. I'd leave Santorini for the last, as it has an airport so will be easy to get back to Athens for your flight home. Although it's in the Saronic island group, you could substitute the island of Hydra for either Mykonos or Naxos. It's a small island but has some good photo op's (IMO) and it's easy to get to from Athens via Hydrofoil. I'd recommend Hotel Leto on Hydra. In order to get around to the various locales on Santorini (such as Pyrgos), you might consider renting a car. NOTE that you will require an International Driver's Permit, which is used in conjunction with your home D.L. That way you could easily get to Oia and other locales. I believe Akrotiri has now re-opened, so you could also visit that if you're interested. You'll probably find that it's a good idea to drink only bottled water on the islands, as some of the tap water is dreadful. There are LOTS of good photo locations around the Peloponnese also. Something to consider for a future trip. Happy travels and happy shooting!

Santorini for sure. There's no place like it in the world. With so few days at your disposal your time would be best spent if you stick to islands in the same group.

We've only been to Santorini; Naxos, with a day trip to Delos and Mykonos; and Hydra. For top three I would say Santorini for the beautiful scenery, Naxos for the Kastro (old town) and the old typical villages and beautiful sunsets at the harbor. Hydra was also beautiful but much smaller. I'm guessing there are a lot more than three most beautiful islands in Greece!

Ron, the island of Milos is on my "must see" list. Google "Milos Greece" and see the beautiful scenery. Plus, it's very near Santorini.
