To do in Prague ??

I'm looking for a fun authentic Prague experience. I originally wanted to see a the philharmonic or a ballet @ the state opera house but unfortunately when we r there in August there is nothing playing. mozartissimo is playing at a different theater but the reviews i read were not good so I'm thinking I need a new idea. Any help would be great!

Don Giovanni... can't remember the theatres, but I have seen two. One was great, and the other was way too long... look at the reviews for timing.

We were there 2 weeks ago and found that eve dinners al fresco where great entertainment around old town sq. Also, Hotel Gran Praha on old town sq has almost nightly live classic costumed ensemble w/ dinner performances. It is a small dining room on second floor great view overlooking the astronomical clock. I do not recommend the Black light theatre Fantastika. It was a big disappointment for all 4 of us.
hope this helps alittle.

Sarah, I just posted a bunch of suggestions on another thread (hadn't yet seen your message).
http://www.ricksteves.com/graffiti/helpline/index.cfm/rurl/topic/87253/prague-itinerary-suggestions6-full-days-40aug-22-2941.html Even if the opera isn't playing at that time (they are at the end of the month - http://www.opera.cz/en/program/201208.html - but it looks like they have the annual summer vacation at the beginning), there will likely be many concerts (even nightly) in local churches. Your hotel will have pamphlets about this, there are people standing around town handing out pamphlets, and there are also lots of posters up around town advertising them. Some of the Czech ticketing web sites like Bohemia Ticket also sell tickets for certain ones. In any case, these concerts usually last about an hour, sometimes are just organ, sometimes are just a chamber orchestra, sometimes a combo, and are usually quite delightful. Apart from this, be sure to check out some of the suggestions I provided on the other thread, and I hope it helps!
