We arrive in Kusadasi ona Celebrity Cruiseship and are looking to book a tour vehicle w/ guide for a one day tour of Ephesus without relying on the cruise line. Has anyone out there had an experience with Tayf Tours. If so, how well did they fulfill their role? Thank you in advance for any thoughts you can share with us.

Haven't taken a tour, but I did read the reviews on Tripadvisor. I think you can rely on it to be what is spelled out there. Good tour with stops for sales pitches (that apparently are not too annoying). We (family of 4 in 2008) hired a driver in town who took us to Ephesus and back for 40 Euro (no side trips or sales pitches, but area knowledgeable and friendly). We bought our own tickets into Ephesus (don't recall the cost, but I'm sure you can go online and see) plus paid extra for the Terrace Houses (which I would highly recommend). We decided on this because we really only wanted to go to Ephesus and we wanted to do it at our own pace. Worked well for us. Definitely go. It is not to be missed (IMO). Not sure when you are going, but it is a lot of walking on very uneven and often crowded terrain plus quite hot (in July). Bring bottled water with you.
